Khalil is not a fatwa, and some of its tools need a second check. Before you rely on a time, pay zakat, fidya or kaffarah, divide an inheritance or sign a will based on Khalil, confirm it with a qualified scholar or imam, and where the law is involved, with a lawyer, a notary or the court, according to the law of your country.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to your use of the Khalil app for Android, published by Quiet Light Apps (“we”, “us”). By installing or using Khalil you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. What Khalil is, and is not
Khalil brings together tools for the Muslim day and year: prayer times, a prayer log with qada, fidya and kaffarah, adhkar and a tasbih, a Quran reader and a hifz planner, Ramadan times and a diary, a Hijri calendar, a Qibla compass, zakat, sadaqah and faraid calculations, a Hajj and Umrah guide and planner, an Islamic will draft and a period tracker. It shows how it reached each result, so you can check it.
Khalil is not a scholar, a lawyer or a doctor, and it does not give religious rulings (fatwas), legal, financial, tax, travel or medical advice. The built-in rulings are starting points for each school. You are responsible for choosing the rulings that apply to you and for confirming what matters with a qualified person.
3. Times, dates and directions
Prayer, suhoor and iftar times are calculated from the position of the sun for the city you choose and can differ by a few minutes from your mosque. Hijri dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar and can differ by a day from your local announcement. The Qibla direction is calculated for your city, but the phone’s compass can be disturbed; check it when in doubt. Follow your mosque and your community’s moon sighting.
4. Zakat, fidya, kaffarah and inheritance
Do not pay, withhold or divide any money on the strength of a Khalil result alone. Confirm it first with a qualified scholar or imam, and for an actual inheritance also with the court, a lawyer or a notary, according to the law of your country. Gold and silver prices come from third-party services, may be delayed or unavailable, and are not local shop prices. Results depend on the figures you enter, and we cannot check them.
5. The will draft
The will tool helps you prepare a draft. It is not a will and not legal advice. The draft is general wording, not written for the law of your country, and it is not valid until it is checked, signed and witnessed as that law requires. Have it checked by a qualified scholar, and by a lawyer or notary according to the law of your country. The shares shown are for your family as it is today; who inherits is decided at the time of death.
6. The period tool
The period tool keeps the dates you enter and works out your usual cycle from them. It is not medical advice and must not be used to prevent or plan a pregnancy. Expected dates are estimates. For questions about your health, see a doctor; for the rulings on prayer and fasting, ask a qualified scholar.
7. The Quran and the adhkar
The Quran text is the Tanzil Quran Text (Uthmani, version 1.1), Copyright © 2007-2026 Tanzil Project, used unchanged under its terms (Creative Commons Attribution 3.0); see tanzil.net. It is shown in the Amiri Quran font (SIL Open Font License 1.1). Where the law asks for an approval first, Khalil does not show the Quran text until it has one. The transliterations are only a help and cannot show every sound of the Arabic: learn the recitation from a qualified teacher. The hifz planner does not hear or correct your recitation.
8. Purchase and refunds
Khalil is sold as a one-time purchase on Google Play. Payment, refunds and receipts are handled by Google under Google Play’s terms and refund policy.
9. Licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive licence to use Khalil on your own devices. You may not copy, resell or reverse engineer the app, unless the law gives you that right. The Quran text and the font keep their own licences, named above. The city list is from Natural Earth (public domain) with time zones from the city-timezones project (MIT licence).
10. No guarantees
We work hard to make Khalil accurate, and we fix mistakes we find, but we cannot promise that it is free of errors or always available. To the extent the law allows, Khalil is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for losses that result from relying on it instead of a qualified person or the official rules. Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights as a consumer, or any liability the law does not allow us to limit.
11. Your data
How Khalil handles information is explained in the privacy policy.
12. Changes
We may update the app and these terms. If we change the terms in a way that matters, we will update this page, the version number and the date above. Earlier versions stay available at their own address, for example /khalil/terms/v1/ for version 1.
