In short: Khalil keeps what you enter on your own phone. We have no accounts and no servers that store your information, and we do not use advertising or analytics. The app goes online only to fetch gold and silver prices when you ask.
Who we are
Khalil is published by Quiet Light Apps, an independent developer. You can reach us at support@quietlightapps.win. This policy applies to the Khalil app for Android and to this website.
What stays on your phone
Everything you put into Khalil is stored only in the app’s private storage on your phone: your city and school, the prayers you tick and the prayers and fasts you make up, your adhkar and tasbih counts, your Quran page and bookmarks, the hifz profiles you create (for example your children’s first names) and their progress, your Ramadan diary, your assets, debts, zakat dates, payments and sadaqah, your Hajj plans and savings, your will draft (with names, addresses, what you own and owe, and your wishes), your period dates if you use the period tool, and your settings.
Some of this is very personal, religious, financial and health information. We cannot see any of it, and it is not sent to us.
What leaves your phone
| When | What is sent | To whom |
|---|---|---|
| You tap the button to get today’s gold and silver prices in Zakat | A request for the gold price, the silver price and, for another currency, the exchange rate of that currency code (for example MYR). No amounts, names or identifiers are sent. | api.gold-api.com (metal prices) and api.frankfurter.dev (exchange rates). Like any website, they can see your IP address and basic technical details of the request. See their own privacy policies. |
| You save the will draft as a PDF, or share it as text | The draft, to the place or the app you choose. A shared draft is then handled by that app. | Wherever you send it. |
| You tap “Send feedback” | Whatever you choose to write. The app opens your email app. Nothing is sent automatically. | Us, by email. |
| You buy the app | Your purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not receive your payment details. | Google. See Google’s privacy policy. |
What we do not do
- We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, photos, voice or device identifiers.
- We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking tools, in the app or on this website.
- We do not sell or share your information, because we do not hold it.
Permissions the app asks for
- Internet: only to fetch gold and silver prices, as described above.
- Notifications: for the reminders and prayer time notifications you turn on. They are created on your phone and need no server.
- Alarms and reminders: so prayer times, suhoor and iftar notifications come at the exact minute.
- Run at startup: to set your reminders again after the phone restarts.
Khalil does not ask for your location: you choose your city from a list. The Qibla compass uses the phone’s motion sensors, which need no permission. Khalil does not use your contacts, camera, microphone or files. When you save or restore a backup, you choose the file yourself with Android’s own file picker.
Widgets
If you add Khalil’s widgets to your home screen, they show what you chose, for example the next prayer or today’s prayers. Anyone who sees your home screen can see them, also with the app lock on. The period tool and the will draft have no widgets.
Period tracking
The period tool is off until you turn it on. Its dates stay on your phone, are never copied to Android’s cloud backup or to a new phone by a device transfer, and are used only to show your cycle and, if you ask, to mark prayers that are not due and fasts to make up. Its reminders say only “A reminder you asked for”, make no sound and are hidden on the lock screen. You can remove any period at any time, and Delete all my data removes them all.
Backups
“Save a backup” creates one file in the place you choose, with everything from every tool, including your will draft and period dates. The file is readable and not encrypted, so keep it somewhere private. Android may also include the app’s other data in your phone’s own backup to your Google account, if you have that turned on; that is controlled by your phone settings and by Google, not by us. The will draft and the period dates are always left out of it.
App lock
If you turn on the app lock, Khalil asks your phone to confirm your screen lock (PIN, pattern, password or fingerprint). Khalil never sees or stores those details. While the lock is on, Khalil hides its screen from screenshots and the recent apps view.
Deleting your data
Open Settings, then Backup and your data, then Delete all my data. You can also uninstall the app, which removes its data from your phone. Backup files you saved yourself stay where you put them until you delete them. If you emailed us and want that email deleted, write to us and we will delete it.
Children
Khalil is not designed for children to use on their own; a parent or teacher can make hifz profiles for them. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because Khalil does not send your entries to us, we hold no personal data from the app that we could show, correct or delete. If you contact us, we hold only what you wrote to us, and you can ask to see or delete it.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page, the version number and the date above before the change reaches you. Earlier versions stay available at their own address, for example /khalil/privacy/v1/ for version 1.
