Safa is a guide and planner, not a fatwa. Scholars differ on many details of Hajj and Umrah. Follow your group’s scholar or your own imam, and ask them whenever a step is missed or something goes wrong.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to your use of the Safa app for Android, published by Quiet Light Apps (“we”, “us”). By installing or using Safa you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. What Safa is, and is not
Safa shows the steps of Umrah and Hajj in order, how each of the four schools classes them, and where they differ. It helps you count rounds, laps and pebbles, and keeps your checklist, trip details, savings, budget and duas.
Safa is not a scholar and does not give religious rulings (fatwas), legal, travel, medical or financial advice. The guide describes the usual positions of each school in short form. It does not cover every situation, and it does not tell you what to do after a missed or mistaken step, or what penalty applies. Ask a qualified scholar.
Your counts are yours to check. The counter only adds up the taps you make. If you are unsure how many rounds, laps or pebbles you completed, follow the guidance of your scholar.
3. Dates, travel rules and money
Hajj dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar and can differ by a day from the official announcement; you can adjust this in Settings. Visa, permit, vaccination and travel rules change and are not checked by Safa: always follow the current official requirements and your travel group. Savings, budget and spending figures are what you type in; Safa only adds them up.
4. Purchase and refunds
Safa is sold as a one-time purchase on Google Play. Payment, refunds and receipts are handled by Google under Google Play’s terms and refund policy.
5. Licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive licence to use Safa on your own devices. You may not copy, resell or reverse engineer the app, unless the law gives you that right.
6. No guarantees
We work hard to make Safa accurate, and we fix mistakes we find, but we cannot promise that it is free of errors or always available. To the extent the law allows, Safa is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for losses that result from relying on it instead of a qualified person or the official rules. Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights as a consumer, or any liability the law does not allow us to limit.
7. Your data
How Safa handles information is explained in the privacy policy.
8. Changes
We may update the app and these terms. If we change the terms in a way that matters, we will update this page, the version number and the date above. Earlier versions stay available at their own address, for example /safa/terms/v1/ for version 1.
