Common questions
Does it work without internet in Makkah and Mina?
Yes. Safa never uses the internet, so it works the same in airplane mode, in the Haram and in Mina.
I lost count during tawaf or sa'i.
The counter only knows the taps you made. If you are unsure, scholars commonly advise going by the number you are certain of. Ask your group's scholar if in doubt.
I tapped the counter twice by mistake.
Tap Undo in the counter, or on the widget right after the tap. In the guide you can also untick a step.
How do I change between Umrah and Hajj, or my type of Hajj?
Open Settings and tap Change journey. Steps you already ticked off stay ticked where they are the same.
How do I clear my travel dates?
On the Trip tab, tap Clear next to the date. Without a date, a Hajj countdown goes to the next day of Arafah.
Why is the day of Arafah a day off?
Safa uses the Umm al-Qura calendar. In Settings you can move the Hajj dates one day earlier or later to match the announcement.
How do I save a backup, or move to a new phone?
Open Settings, then Backup and your data, and tap Save a backup. Choose where to save the file. On the new phone, install Safa, open the same section and tap Restore, then pick the file. Restoring replaces everything currently in the app.
How do I delete all my data?
Open Settings, then Backup and your data, then Delete all my data. You can also uninstall the app. Backup files you saved yourself stay where you put them.
The widget does not show the right numbers or colours.
Open Safa once so it can refresh the widgets. Widgets also update on their own about every 30 minutes. If a widget still looks wrong, remove it and add it again.
Why does a ruling differ from what I was told?
Scholars differ, and Safa shows the usual position of each school. Follow your group's scholar or your own imam.
Report a mistake in the guide
If a step, a date or a ruling looks wrong, please tell us. Write what you saw, what you expected and your school, with a source if you have one. We take these reports seriously and correct them.
Scholars, imams and Hajj groups
If you are a qualified scholar or lead Hajj and Umrah groups, and would like to review the guide or suggest improvements, we would be glad to hear from you at support@quietlightapps.win.
