Common questions

How do I save a backup, or move to a new phone?

Open Settings, then Backup and your data, and tap Save a backup. Choose where to save the file. On the new phone, install Zaka, open the same section and tap Restore, then pick the file. Restoring replaces everything currently in the app.

How do I delete all my data?

Open Settings, then Backup and your data, then Delete all my data. You can also uninstall the app. Backup files you saved yourself stay where you put them.

The prices will not load.

Check your internet connection and try again in a minute. The price services allow only a limited number of requests. You can always type the gold and silver prices yourself, and the app works the same way.

Why does the price differ from my jeweller?

Zaka fetches international spot prices for pure metal. Local shops add their own margin and use their own rate. For zakat you can type the price you prefer.

The widget does not show the right days or colours.

Open Zaka once so it can refresh the widget. Widgets also update on their own about every 30 minutes. If the widget still looks wrong, remove it and add it again.

Why is the Hijri date a day off?

Zaka uses the Umm al-Qura calendar. Moon-sighting dates can differ by a day, so please follow your local announcement for the exact day.

Why does a ruling differ from what I was told?

Scholars differ, and Zaka starts from the usual position of the school you pick. In Settings, under School and rulings, you can change single rulings to match your own scholar’s advice.

Which results need a scholar?

All of them should be confirmed with your own scholar or imam. For inheritance, ask a scholar who handles inheritance cases. Some unusual family situations are marked in the app as needing a scholar.

Report a mistake in a ruling

If you find a result that looks wrong, or a ruling that does not match your school, please tell us. Write what you entered, what Zaka showed and what you expected, with a source if you have one. We take these reports seriously and correct them.

Scholars and imams

If you are a qualified scholar and would like to review how Zaka handles a ruling, or if you have other suggestions, we would be glad to hear from you at support@quietlightapps.win.
