Common questions
Is the draft a valid will?
No. It is a draft to take to a lawyer where you live and to a scholar. A will is valid only when it meets the law of your country, usually signed by you in front of two witnesses who receive nothing under it.
Why does it say the shares are “as things stand”?
Faraid shares depend on who is alive when a person dies. The draft therefore says the rest goes by Islamic law of inheritance, and lists today’s family and shares for information only.
Can I leave something extra to one of my heirs?
Heirs already receive a fixed share. “There is no bequest for an heir” (Abu Dawud 2870): such a bequest is only valid if the other heirs agree after the death. Wasiyyah marks it in the draft.
Why does my school matter for zakat or fidya I still owe?
Shafi’i and Hanbali scholars pay these from the whole estate like other debts. Hanafi and Maliki scholars pay them only if the will asks, from the one-third. You can change this in Settings if your scholar advises otherwise.
How do I print the draft?
On Home, tap Read and save my draft, then Save as PDF. Open the PDF on your phone or a computer and print it from there.
How do I save a backup, or move to a new phone?
Open Settings, then Backup and your data, and tap Save a backup. On the new phone, install Wasiyyah, open the same section and tap Restore. The draft is not part of Android’s automatic backup, so keep your own backup file safe.
