Common questions
Does an unticked prayer count as missed?
No. Yusra never assumes a prayer was missed. The next day it asks about prayers left open, and a missed prayer only goes onto your list to make up when you tick the box. You can turn the daily prayers off in Settings.
How do I save a backup, or move to a new phone?
Open Settings, then Backup and your data, and tap Save a backup. Choose where to save the file. On the new phone, install Yusra, open the same section and tap Restore, then pick the file. Restoring replaces everything currently in the app.
How do I delete all my data?
Open Settings, then Backup and your data, then Delete all my data. You can also uninstall the app. Backup files you saved yourself stay where you put them.
I am not sure how many prayers I missed.
Use Estimate it for me on the Prayers tab, then adjust the numbers whenever you like. Many scholars advise a careful estimate that errs on the side of caution. Ask your scholar how to estimate in your situation.
I ticked one of today's prayers by mistake.
Tap its circle again to clear it, or press and hold it to choose late, missed or not filled in. Earlier days can be changed by tapping them in the calendar on Home.
I counted a qada prayer or fast by mistake.
On the Prayers tab, tap Undo next to the prayer. On the Fasts tab, tap Undo last. The widgets also show Undo right after a tap.
Why can I count only one fast a day?
A person can keep only one fast on a given day. To count a fast you kept on an earlier day, use On another day on the Fasts tab.
Why does the fidya differ from what my mosque says?
The amount is the number of fidya days times the value you typed in. Use the rate your mosque or Islamic council announces for this year. Some schools also add fidya for fasts made up after the next Ramadan; you can change that ruling in Settings.
The widget does not show the right numbers or colours.
Open Yusra once so it can refresh the widgets. Widgets also update on their own about every 30 minutes. If a widget still looks wrong, remove it and add it again.
Why is the start of Ramadan a day off?
Yusra uses the Umm al-Qura calendar. In Settings you can move it one day earlier or later to match your country’s moon sighting.
Why does a ruling differ from what I was told?
Scholars differ, and Yusra starts from the usual position of the school you pick. In Settings, under School and rulings, you can change single rulings to match your own scholar’s advice.
Report a mistake in a ruling
If you find a result that looks wrong, or a ruling that does not match your school, please tell us. Write what you entered, what Yusra showed and what you expected, with a source if you have one. We take these reports seriously and correct them.
Scholars and imams
If you are a qualified scholar and would like to review how Yusra handles a ruling, or if you have other suggestions, we would be glad to hear from you at support@quietlightapps.win.
